SELF-LITE Charcoal

Invented by a Priest and a Chemist

It took a Catholic priest and a chemist to invent SELF-LITE Charcoal Briquettes. As childhood friends who served as altar boys, they saw the need for an easy to light, convenient, and economical briquette that stays lit.

Easy to Light

A SELF-LITE briquette lights immediately when touched by flame. It will even light when struck with a safety match striker surface.

SELF-LITE is reliable. Briquettes stay lit, even in wind. They burn slowly and consistently for 30 minutes or more. With the recognizable burn, you always know they're working.

No-Waste Design

Each SELF-LITE briquette has an unusual "star saucer" shape. It holds three spoonfuls of incense as required by the Church Rubrics until every grain of incense is completely burned.

Time-Tested Value

SELF-LITE has been produced and distributed worldwide for more than 60 years.
We are proud of the fact that the price of each SELF-LITE briquette is still less than the price of a postage stamp.

Instructions in Six Languages

Easy to understand instructions in English, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, and Spanish appear on all SELF-LITE packaging.

Conveniently Packaged In Blister Cards and Shrink-Wrapped Cartons

SELF-LITE Charcoal Briquettes are available in handy blister cards and economical shrink-wrapped cartons.
Each blister card holds six briquettes. These cards are designed to hang from a display board.
A case of blister cards contains 50 cards, a total of 300 briquettes.
The shrink-wrapped carton holds 5 sealed trays of 20 briquettes. This method of packaging allows for safe, clean shipment and handling. With its hinged top and tapered wells in the trays, the briquettes are easy to access and remove.
